St Mary in the Quay Community Engagement

Schools Engagement as part of Suffolk Mind's rejuvenation conversion of an empty church 'St Mary in the Quay' within the dock area of Ipswich into a Wellbeing centre.

Ko-an Arts ran a number of cultural access projects for Mind on the history of Ipswich, including interviewing residents about their memories of the docks and leading school children to research the town’s rich past. The film below involved St. Margaret's Primary School creating enactments and animation based on the Viking invasions of East Anglia, ship and dock building, including building ships that fought in the Spanish Armada Invasion, the wool trade, the explorer and pirate Thomas Cavendish and the World Wars.
